Overview

Dibs let you claim your top items with extra oomph. You get a limited number (usually 3), and you have to explain why each one matters. Maybe it’s sentimental, or you’re the only one who can use it. The algorithm factors dibs in when resolving conflicts.

Steps

  1. Go to My Inheritance or the dibs/ranking view.
  2. Find an item you want to call dibs on.
  3. Click Call Dibs (or the dibs button).
  4. Write a reason. Be specific—”I helped Grandma pick it out” beats “I want it.”
  5. Submit. Repeat for up to your dibs limit (e.g., 3).
  6. You can remove a dibs and use it on something else before the phase closes.

Dibs + high ranking = strongest signal. Use both for your true must-haves.
