Overview

Setting up your first estate is the foundation for everything else. Maybe you’re the executor handling a loved one’s belongings, or you’re helping your family organize a fair distribution. Either way, you’ll need an estate record before you can add assets, invite members, or run a distribution.

Steps

  1. Go to Get Started (or Create Estate if you’re starting fresh).
  2. Enter the estate name and location—something like “Smith Family Estate” and “Portland, OR” works great.
  3. Choose your distribution method: Traditional (live picking order), Automated (algorithm assigns based on rankings and dibs), or Fully Automated (hands-off).
  4. Set your value system: Dollars (each person gets a point budget), Points (custom allocations), or No Points (pure ranking and dibs).
  5. Add family members with their names, emails, and relationships.
  6. Review the summary and launch—you’re ready to add assets and start the distribution when everyone’s set.
