Overview
You can’t dibs everything. There’s a cap—often 3 per person—so everyone gets a few strong claims. Pick your battles. Maybe you want the tea set, the necklace, and the painting. That’s your three. Choose wisely.
How It Works
- Your estate sets the limit (check the distribution info or ask the executor).
- Once you hit the limit, you have to remove a dibs before adding another.
- The executor can review dibs and remove ones that don’t meet the bar (e.g., no real reason).
- Dibs over the limit may block submission—clean them up before the deadline.
Quality over quantity. Three meaningful dibs beat ten half-hearted ones.
